I’ve waited a few months to be able to reveal this, so it gives me great pleasure to finally announce the pending publication of The Pretender, the sequel to The Forest of Forever. The book will be released Tuesday, May 24, and the good news is you can pre-order it now by clicking here!

Some of you may have wondered what has taken me so long, particularly when I promised the novel would be released late last year. There’s a great reason for that. I’m proud to announce that Kindle Press, which published The Forest of Forever, has agreed to publish The Pretender as well. Since there was no Kindle Scout campaign this time around, it took us a little bit to iron out some details, nail down the release date, etc. I think you’ll agree the result is worth the wait.

Without further ado, here’s the official description for The Pretender:

A young girl slaughters her entire family in a quiet suburban neighborhood. The police say she snapped, but Soren Chase knows the truth. Having dedicated his life to hunting down the creature that murdered his best friend and left him framed for the crime eight years ago, Soren expertly recognizes the villain’s hallmarks in the young girl’s rampage: a pretender—a supernatural creature that can steal the identity and memories of its targets—has struck again.

Recently shattered by the realization that the monster he hunted for so long is far closer than he ever imagined, Soren needs to find a way to put the pieces back together if he wants to protect his remaining loved ones. To face this new threat, Soren must learn to cope with the past, forge an unlikely alliance, and battle an ancient foe with a sinister agenda that could kill millions.

Don’t miss this exciting sequel to The Forest of Forever and the next chapter in an addictive, urban fantasy series that One Book Two calls “amazing… with twists and turns that left me seriously unbalanced.”

And to tease you just a bit more, here’s the first line of the story: “Soren Chase drew the hood over his head and waited for the human sacrifice to start.”

If you haven’t already, be sure to read Carnival of Stone! Though the novella takes place before Forest, a couple of its characters put in an appearance in The Pretender

If you want to know the back story, it’s worth checking out.

That’s all for now. Please check out the amazing cover below and let me know what you think. I can’t wait to get The Pretender into your hands. I think you’re really going to enjoy it!
